Our mission is to use the power of puppetry to help children understand and value differences in one another and to teach them how to stay healthy and safe.
This is knowledge that will not only serve them well now, but throughout their lives, making children - and our whole community - stronger. Topics include healthy eating, wearing helmets, responding to bullying, dealing with feelings, and cultural differences, and dealing with people with physical, mental and emotional challenges.
We believe kids learn best by example. Puppets can teach in ways that textbooks and lectures cannot. For some children, the Kids on the Block puppets model how to ask for help. Our hope, however, is to prevent children from ever having to face the problems we address.
Our small staff is mission driven and work together in a friendly and collegial atmosphere, guiding the work of over 100 volunteers who deliver services through free puppet shows in schools and other venues.
